Some people may experience a temporary tingling, numbing, or mildly irritated sensation on the gums or under the tongue after taking this medication. This feeling on the gums is a common side effect known as paresthesia. This is associated with Paroxetine, the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in this formulation. This can happen due to the way the medication is absorbed sublingually (under the tongue), or due to certain inactive ingredients in the formulation.
If the side effect is mild and temporary, it may not require stopping use. However, if you're experiencing discomfort that affects your ability to take the medication regularly, we recommend speaking with your doctor. You can message your doctor in the Messages section of your account.
This sensation is not harmful and usually goes away shortly after use. However, if the discomfort is severe, persistent, or accompanied by swelling, rash, or difficulty breathing, you should stop using the medication and consult a healthcare provider. You can message your doctor in the Messages section of your account.
